Why does the f horn and alto sax play the same notes when they are in different keys?

in band, one of the books says Eb alto sax/f horn. how is this when they are in different keys?

Do you guys use this book to play in the band, I mean, with the whole ensemble playing? If so, check through the book to see if there’s a different section for horn. If everyone’s playing together, you’re right, it would sound wrong if the horn played the sax part or vice versa.

If you don’t actually have to play together, then the horn can just play the notes in the book but would be in a different key.
